American Councils for International Education
Camões, IP, in collaboration with the American Councils for International Education, based in Washington DC, United States of America, established a partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen the study and teaching of Portuguese language and culture in the United States and support access to foreign language education in a comprehensive way. This partnership will directly promote the National Examinations in Foreign Languages (NEWL – National Examinations in World Languages), along with a series of assessments in these languages, including Portuguese.
International Association of Lusitanists - AIL
Camões, I.P. is a member of the AIL, the International Association of Lusitanists (Associação Internacional de Lusitanistas), an association founded in 1984 that currently has a large membership spread right across the world in more than 30 different countries. AIL’s main objective is to promote the study of the language, literature and culture of Portuguese-speaking countries.
European Federation of Institutions National Language - EFNIL
Camões, I.P. is a founder member of the European Federation of Institutions National Language (EFNIL), which was formed during the federation’s general meeting on the 13th and 14th of October 2003 and today represents 38 institutions in 27 different countries. EFNIL’s main objective is to promote methods that facilitate the use of different languages in a multilingual Europe by using its members as local catalysts for this purpose.
Evaluation and Accreditation of Quality in Language Services - EAQUALS
Since 2013, Camões, I.P. has been an associate member of EAQUALS (Evaluation and Accreditation of Quality in Language Services), an international association of institutions and organisations involved in language teaching with the aim of promoting common standards and ensuring quality in the teaching and learning of languages.
Association of Universities of Portuguese Language - AULP
Camões, I.P. is a founding partner of AULP, the Association of Universities of Portuguese Language (Associação das Universidades de LÃngua Portuguesa), which was created in 1986 and currently has over 140 members from Portuguese-speaking countries around the world as well as Macao. AULP’s main objective is to encourage communication between its members for the purpose of collectively developing the Portuguese language and teaching around the world. AULP offers the annual Fernão Mendes Pinto Prize which is awarded to the Master's or degree thesis that most effectively brings Portuguese-speaking communities together during the previous calendar year, according to Camões, I.P. guidelines
Association of Language Testers in Europe - ALTE
Camões, I.P. has been an affiliate member of ALTE, the Association of Language Testers in Europe, since 2012. Headquartered in Cambridge, this European association has 33 members whose aims are to establish common standards for testing and certifying languages in Europe.
