Applications for co-operation grants
Under the co-operation programmes established with each of the countries with Portuguese as the official language, grants are awarded annually for university and polytechnic education, for students who are nationals and residents in Portuguese-speaking African countries and East Timor (not Portuguese citizens) but wish to attend higher education courses in Portugal.

Applications for language and culture grants
Scholarships granted under the scholarship Programme for Portuguese Language and Culture Annual and Summer Courses given at Portuguese universities or at institutions recognized by Camões, I.P. are for foreign and Portuguese students residing abroad who intend to improve their language skills.
Scholarships granted under the Fernão Mendes Pinto Programme are for Portuguese and foreign graduates or final-year students involved in scientific or professional training projects in the area of Portuguese as a foreign language, through Portuguese Language Centres /Camões, I.P., Lectureships from Camões, I.P. at foreign universities and institutions which have agreements with Camões, I.P.
Scholarships granted under the Research Programme are for Portuguese and foreign professors and researchers residing abroad who intend to carry out studies in Portugal specializing in the area of Portuguese language and culture for masters and doctorate degrees at Portuguese universities.
Scholarships granted under the Pessoa Programme are for those responsible for teaching Portuguese and Portuguese Departments at universities or foreign research institutes for training and research projects in the area of Portuguese language and culture.
Scholarships granted under the Programme Vieira are for Portuguese and foreign graduates residing abroad involved in training projects in the area of translation and conference interpreting.
